Right here, right now, we're going to solve those issues. Just choosing a router, suitable build, and revision of DD-WRT is a daunting task for a beginner traditionally, one must pore over forum posts for information about balancing stability, features, and newer device support. It's hard to choose the build for your needs (a good discussion of the various builds is here).
There hasn't been an official stable release since 2008. However, it's not easy for a novice starting out with DD-WRT. It adds features, stability and configurability to consumer routers. It works for me (on a 610).DD-WRT is a wonderful open source custom router firmware that is supported on many devices. PPPoE is not a hardware dependent function, it is software only so should not be related to a certain router model. Have you tried it or are you only going by what 2-3 other users say? I've been using PPPoE with most svns since 13309, using 13637 right now and PPPoE's worked perfectly fine Personally I am satisfied with the 13309, but it would be useful to know does PPPOE work or not in the latest versions. There are questions about it in different forums, but until now there is no any confirmation that PPPOE works after 13309 (somewhere it is said 13401). I am using 13309 version and can not go to newer versions, since there is the information in the forum that PPPOE is broken in the newer SVNs. Unfortunately it is not Peacock Thread question. I had exactly the same problem as you where it would flash up saying WAN was disabled. I spent HOURS trying to work out the problem only to revert back to build 10020 where it worked immediately. I installed the Standard Generic Build 13064 (the one that said RECOMMENDED :angryface:) on my WRT54G ver.2 this morning only to have the same problem when trying to set up bridging.
